Bantering Bantering is an interesting way of doing business in which soft deceptions are all part of the game. Automobile aficionados banter with used car dealers, antique collectors banter with antique dealers. Here, the buyers and sellers know the habits of the other pretty well. Bantering for some is an enjoyable way of doing business. There can be high powered bantering in which large sums of money change hands, In the end the deceptions are not that extreme and both parties part on good terms—one party making some extra money, and the other learning a new trick of business. Some customers simply demand that a certain degree of intrigue to be present in a negotiation; a certain degree of cunning or intellectual stimulation evident. Thus, certain kinds of business evolve to satisfy their customer's negotiating needs. In bantering the business person will sometimes lose on purpose simply to keep the customer coming back to buy or socialize. |
